New online support for families in Worcestershire
Parents, carers, and grandparents in Worcestershire can now access award-winning free online training to help with challenges they face in family life.
The Solihull Approach parenting programme is a quality-marked, evidence-based programme that has been developed by registered professionals within the NHS, working with practitioners and parents to develop new resources to support emotional health and wellbeing in children, families, and adults.
Now available online, the courses look at brain development, styles of parenting, sleep, behaviour, and communication, starting with ‘Understanding your pregnancy’ through to 'Understanding your teenager's brain'.
Louise Langston, Service Manager for the Starting Well Partnership said, “We’re delighted to offer such a fantastic resource to our families.
“We know that it’s natural for every parent or carer to face challenges at different stages in their child’s life, and we hope these courses will support them to better understand why those challenges have arisen and the steps they can take to support their child through them”.
The free programme is available to parents and carers in Worcestershire through the Starting Well Partnership website.
Led by Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, the Starting Well Partnership brings together Redditch Borough Council, Action for Children and Barnardo’s to offer support, advice and clinics for families and children, from pregnancy through to 19 years old.
The launch comes at a time where many families have had to change the way they access parenting groups and sessions because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Partnership continues to adapt the way they deliver groups and courses during lockdown, with antenatal classes and breastfeeding support also available virtually.
Families wishing to access the Solihull Approach courses can do so by visiting the parenting courses area of the Starting Well Partnership website [opens in new window] logging in with the access code PARENTSROCK.
